Kennnedy

Inspired by the era of pickups made before the CBS takeover in 1965, these pickups have a warm and bluesy tone with clear, sparkling highs and beautiful, round lows.  Aggressive scooped mids.  A few more turns than the “Nixon” set gives these a bit more volume.  Hand-weakened and beveled magnets are warm and sweet, like a naturally aged pickup.  Scatterwound with vintage correct Formvar wire with 7,900 turns.  Vulcanized flatwork and cloth covered leads complete the package.  Opt for wax potting for fewer microphonics.  RW/RP middle pickup for hum-canceling in 2 and 4.

Nixon

After the CBS takeover of Fender, building materials changed and things got a lot more automated on the assembly line, which wasn’t entirely a bad thing.  Enlarged headstocks of the 70’s were boss, and the pickups weren’t bad either.  Scatterwound coils with plain enamel wire had slightly less windings for an aggressive tone with more clarity and highs.  These have hand beveled and weakened magnets like naturally aged pickups.  Complete with grey bottom bobbins and PVC coated leads.  Opt for wax potting for fewer microphonics.  RW/RP middle pickup for hum-canceling in 2 and 4.
